The California Reducing Disparities Project began as one of five Statewide Projects funded by the MHSA.
- In 2007, the Mental Health Services Oversight & Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) approves a plan for 5 statewide projects under Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) component.

$129 million set aside for these projects:
- Suicide Prevention
- School based programs
- Stigma and Discrimination Reduction
- Technical Assistance and Capacity Building for Partners
- Ethnically and Culturally Specific Programs and Interventions becomes the PEI Statewide Project on Reducing Disparities
The PEI Statewide Project on Reducing Disparities becomes known as the California Reducing Disparities Project. The Office of Health Equity (OHE) under the California Department of Public Health is the administrator of the CRDP. Here is a link to the page of their website about the CRDP:
