Who are REMHDCO members?
REMHDCO members are individuals who represent their organization and/or their racial/ethnic/cultural communities. Most are staff of ECBO’s (ethnic community based organizations), but there are family members and primary consumers who also belong to REMHDCO. -
Why aren’t government staff allowed to become REMHDCO members?
While REMHDCO respects the work of individuals who work for government agencies, there is an inherent conflict of interest for these staff, especially those who work for county mental or behavioral health departments. REMHDCO has taken positions and advocated policies that are opposed by county mental health departments or the California Mental Health Directors Association. -
What is REMHDCO’s relationship with Mental Health America of California (formerly the Mental Health Association in California)?
Mental Health America of California (MHAC) is REMHDCO’s fiscal agent. -
What is the difference between REMHDCO and the CMMC?
The CMMC is one of REMHDCO’s projects. Please see the organizational chart by clicking here. -
What are the benefits of joining REMHDCO? Why should I join?
To find out about state level mental health policy issues (especially those related to the Mental Health Services Act) and how they affect services to racial and ethnic communities at the local level. To have a voice at the state level mental health policy and decision-making tables. There is no other statewide organization that speaks primarily on behalf of racial and ethnic communities and reducing disparities.
